This guide walks you through the submission form from start to finish so your abstract arrives complete and correctly formatted for review.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"before-you-start-0\">Before you start<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A few things worth knowing before you begin:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>You must be the lead author<\/strong> (or, for a proposed symposium, the chair). All updates and programme information are sent to the submitting author&#8217;s email address, so it needs to be you.<\/li><li><strong>Have your details ready.<\/strong> You&#8217;ll need your title, your abstract text, and the name, department, city and country for each author exactly as they should appear in print.<\/li><li><strong>Check the guidelines.<\/strong> \"(\u300a\u4e16\u754c\u4eba\u6743\u5ba3\u8a00\u300b) <strong>Abstract Guidelines<\/strong> link at the top of the page sets out the word limits and what each abstract type should contain.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"starting-a-submission-1\">Starting a submission<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From your dashboard, open <strong>My Abstracts<\/strong> and click <strong>Submit an Abstract<\/strong>. This opens the submission form, which is divided into clearly labelled sections. Your existing submissions are listed here, and <strong>Submit an Abstract<\/strong> at the foot of the list starts a new one.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"choosing-your-type-and-categories-2\">Choosing your type and categories<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">First, choose your <strong>Abstract type<\/strong> \u2014 for example a scientific or a policy abstract. Then make your <strong>Category selections<\/strong>: these are the conference&#8217;s topic areas, and they determine which part of the programme your work is considered for and which reviewers assess it. Watch the word counter beneath each field \u2014 it shows how many words you have left, and the form won&#8217;t let you exceed the limit. The counter under each field tracks your remaining words, so you always stay within the limit.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"declaring-conflicts-of-interest-4\">Declaring conflicts of interest<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Every abstract includes a <strong>conflict of interest<\/strong> statement. Confirm either that the authors have no relevant conflict, or that a financial or personal relationship should be disclosed. This appears alongside your abstract, so answer it honestly.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"entering-author-details-5\">Entering author details<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The author and affiliation details you enter here <strong>appear unedited in the official abstract book<\/strong> and may be reproduced in citations, so enter them exactly as they should appear in print:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Primary workplace<\/strong> \u2014 the full official name (for example <em>University of Cambridge<\/em>, not <em>Cambridge Uni<\/em>). Avoid acronyms unless they&#8217;re part of the official name.<\/li><li><strong>Department<\/strong> \u2014 your specific department, school or unit, entered separately from the workplace.<\/li><li><strong>City and country<\/strong> \u2014 where your workplace is located.<\/li><li><strong>Presenting author<\/strong> \u2014 indicate whether you&#8217;ll be the one presenting.<\/li><\/ul>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Take care with spelling, capitalisation and accented characters \u2014 these are the details attributed to each author&#8217;s work.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"confirming-and-submitting-6\">Confirming and submitting<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Tick the <strong>confirmation<\/strong> box to declare that your information is accurate and complete, then click <strong>Submit Abstract<\/strong>. Your abstract is saved immediately and appears in <strong>My Abstracts<\/strong> with a status of <strong>Pending<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"after-you-submit-7\">After you submit<\/h2>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You don&#8217;t need to do anything further. You can return to <strong>My Abstracts<\/strong> at any time to review, edit or withdraw your submission while it&#8217;s still open, and you&#8217;ll be notified by email when a decision is made.
